Despite the worst-case weather scenario of rain in the morning with dropping temperatures, over 400 volunteers donated their time and effort to clean up Monroeville’s roadways and parks for the 31st annual Jack Sedlak Memorial Clean Up Day on April 25.
The volunteers picked up 527 bags of litter, an amazing 114 tires, four TVs, two commercial sweepers, five pallets, 31 large car parts an air conditioner and other scrap metal. We’d also like to thank our generous sponsors, without whom Clean Up Day, the appreciation picnic and prize raffle wouldn’t be possible.
The volunteers’ passion and sponsors’ support are the main reasons why the Jack Sedlak Memorial Clean Up Day — 31 years and counting — continues to be one of the largest and most successful cleanup events in Western Pennsylvania.
We took another bite out of the litter problem this year and hopefully will continue to chip away at the problem until we don’t need to any longer. Thank you again to all the volunteers and sponsors.
