The best long-range kicker in Pittsburgh Steelers history now ties as the highest paid in NFL history.
Chris Boswell and the Steelers agreed to a four-year, $28 million contract extension that runs through the 2030 season, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Boswell’s $7 million per year average ties with the Cowboys’ Brandon Aubrey for the highest in league history for a kicker.
Aubrey signed his extension three weeks ago, raising the bar for kicker salaries.
Boswell, 35, enters his 12th season with the Steelers having setting a franchise record last year with a 60-yard field goal. Over his career, Boswell has converted 87.7% of field goal attempts, including 27 of 32 last year.
His career percentage ranks sixth all-time among NFL kickers.
From beyond 50 yards, Boswell stands out. He has made 82.5% of career kicks from long distance and went 9 for 11 last season, including the 60-yarder against the Jets.
