A new Sheetz gas station and convenience store is set to open at 8 a.m. Thursday along Route 30 in Hempfield.

A grand opening event will start at 9 a.m. outside the store followed by a ribbon-cutting at 10:45. Customers can have free self-serve coffee and soda all day, according to Sheetz officials.

There also will be giveaways, including gift cards.

Hempfield supervisors approved the site plans in February 2025. The transfer of a liquor license was OK’d earlier this year from a now-closed Sheetz in Youngwood. The new location, at 6090 Route 30, has been under construction for months. It is at Route 30 and West Hills Drive, the former site of a Rite Aid, across the highway from Greengate Centre.

The convenience store will have seating for 30 people.

Two $2,500 donations will be made to the Westmoreland Food Bank and Special Olympics of Pennsylvania during the event, according to Sheetz officials. Nonperishable food items will be collected for the food bank.
