One day after Harvest Moon Coffee and Chocolates in Harrison announced it would reinvent itself as an event space, construction started just down the road on a new spot for people to caffeinate.
Demolition on property at 1421-1425 Freeport Road began Monday to make room for 7 Brew, a drive-through coffee and energy drink kiosk.
“7 Brew has submitted their PA One Calls and are finalizing their building permits with (building code consultants) Code.sys,” township Manager Amy Rockwell said. “We are awaiting their submittal of the developer’s agreement and the operation and maintenance agreement the board approved at the last meeting.”
The new coffee shop will sit next to Sheetz. It replaces a converted brick house where a restaurant and nail spa operated.
The property is zoned for business.
According to the Allegheny County real estate website, the properties were purchased by Quattro Natrona Heights LLC.
The company paid $535,000 for the property at 1421 Freeport Road on March 5; $220,000 for the property at 1425 Freeport Road on Feb. 28; and $220,000 for the rear property at 1425 Freeport Road, also on Feb. 28.
Requests to 7 Brew parent company, WhoBrew LLC, were not immediately returned.
Founded in Arkansas, 7 Brew has grown to include nearly 700 shops across the country. Locally, there are 7 Brews in Cranberry, Greensburg, Indiana, Pa. and Latrobe.
It boasts more than 20,000 unique beverages, including flavored and sparkling waters and teas.
Harvest Moon owner Desiree Singleton announced Sunday that her Heights Plaza cafe will transition to an event space because of changes in foot traffic at the shopping center.
Since opening in 2023, the plaza has lost anchors Big Lots and Community Market, along with Subway and other smaller stores.
The space will remain open Friday evenings for live music.
Her original coffee shop on Corbet Street in Tarentum remains open.
