Livestream meeting update

Glen Osborne council on April 21 approved a committee to explore the possibility of livestreaming its workshop and voting sessions.

Mayor Matt Doebler, who proposed the idea months ago, is on the committee.

He said the current plan is to video record meetings and post them to the borough’s YouTube as a way to boost transparency and accessibility.

The committee also wants to create an emailed digest, similar to that of Aleppo, which highlights different parts of the meeting with links to those specific sections.

The estimated cost for equipment, including a camera and a laptop, is about $5,500.

Council is expected to get a formal proposal from the committee and possibly vote on the matter on May 19.

If approved, the first video upload will coincide with the launch of the updated borough website, the launch date of which has not been finalized.

Doebler said he will go door-to-door to let residents know when everything is ready.
