After being hit with a consumer alert, Carbonara’s Ristorante in Castle Shannon has passed reinspection by the Allegheny County Health Department. The Italian restaurant was successfully reassessed on May 7 after being cited for 16 health code violations April 30, according to the department’s website.
While the Health Department does not release follow-up reports, restaurants issued a consumer alert placard are reassessed within 10 days. The placard is removed if health violations are corrected and a new green inspection placard is posted.
“Everything passed, the sticker is gone, everything is normal as it was,” Carbonara’s owner Steven Lemma told TribLive on Wednesday.
Lemma said the restaurant passed health inspection after addressing equipment and tile issues, and customers had reported no food safety complaints. He purchased the Italian restaurant, a staple in the area for nearly 35 years, in 2025, and believes longtime customers will continue to support it.
“It’s a local staple,” Lemma said. “So I’m just trying to get it back out there, everything’s fine. Come back and see us, we look forward to serving you.”
