National Weather Service asks public for hail reports
The National Weather Service is asking folks in the Western Pennsylvania region to report details about the type of hail their communities received during Wednesday’s storms.
People are asked to reply to the NWS’ social media posts with their location, size of the hail and what time the hail hit. People are asked to submit photos if they have them.
The information will be used to track the storms that moved through the region. More hail is expected to hit South Park, Jefferson Hills and Monessan Thursday. NWS issued a sever thunderstorm warning for those areas.
Authorities investigating Bethel Park bomb threat
The Allegheny County Bomb Squad reported to a Walmart in Bethel Park Shopping Center Wednesday morning after receiving a report of an explosive device inside the store.
According to Bethel Park police, officers reported to the scene around 8:45 a.m. and evacuated the Walmart and an adjoining Giant Eagle for the building to be searched.
There were no explosives or suspicious devices found. The stores are reopened and operating at regular business hours following the event.
There is no threat to the community, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
University of Pittsburgh Police Department investigating car theft
University of Pittsburgh Police are assisting Pittsburgh police in an investigation of a stolen vehicle.
According to university police, a white 2019 Kia Niro was stolen from the 3500 block of Euler Way by three juveniles wearing all black Tuesday evening after it was left unattended and running on the street. The incident was reported Tuesday around 5 p.m.
