The area’s country music fans can lace up their dancing shoes this summer.
Pittsburgh Brewing Co. will host the first Iron City Riverfront Throwdown Country Music Festival on Aug. 8.
The outdoor festival will be hosted on the East Deer brewery’s lawn along the Allegheny River. The day will include live country music and Pittsburgh Brewing drinks.
The festival is “designed to celebrate country music and Western Pennsylvania summer traditions,” said a statement from the brewery.
Pennsylvania native Chris Higbee will be headlining. Higbee is a former member of the Povertyneck Hillbillies. He’s a singer, songwriter and expert fiddler known for his high-energy performances and “fiddle rock” playing style.
Other performers include Josie Sal, Joe Patrick and Four on the Floor, with additional artists to be announced in the coming weeks.
This is the second debut music festival the brewery announced for this summer.
The two-day Pittsburgh Music Festival on July 11 and 12 will feature local bands spanning blues, rock, Americana, roots, country and jazz . Tickets will go on sale on May 15. The going rate is $30 for a day pass and $50 for a weekend pass. Day passes will be sold at the door if they’re available for $35 each. No weekend passes will be available at the gate.
