Grab a friend and a blanket — the City of Pittsburgh Department of Parks and Recreation has released the schedule of free movies under the stars at parks across the city this summer.
The Dollar Bank Cinema in the Park series will be hosted in 13 neighborhood parks with show dates from June to August. All movie showings are free of charge to attendees. Some parks will have weekly screenings, some will host events on a rotating basis and some will have “pop-up” showings in August. The movies will start rolling, unless otherwise noted, at dusk.
Here are some highlights of this year’s schedule:
West End Overlook: Two movies will be shown, including “Cars” on June 8 and “The SpongeBob Movie: The Search for SquarePants” on July 6.
Banksville Park: Two showings will take place, with “The Wiz” on June 15 and “The Bad Guys 2” on July 13.
Highland Park: Three evenings will take place this summer, with “Wicked: For Good” on June 22, “Miracle” on July 20 and “Lilo and Stitch (2025)” on Aug. 10.
McBride Park: Enjoy two movies, “Hamilton” on June 29 and “A Minecraft Movie” on July 27.
Ormsby Park: Four movies will be screened throughout the summer, including “The Wiz” on June 16 and “A Minecraft Movie” on July 28.Ju
Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park: Hit films will be shown weekly from June 10-July 29. Highlights of the schedule include “Creed” (June 17), “Mission: Impossible — Final Reckoning” (July 8) and “The Naked Gun (2025)” (July 15).
Brookline Memorial Park: Four films wil show this summer, including “The Wiz” on June 18 and “Hoppers” on Aug. 6.
Arsenal Park: Enjoy five movies throughout the season, including “Cars” on June 12” and “Lilo and Stitch (2025)” on Aug. 14.
Grandview Park Bandsand: The park will host six movies under the stars, including “Wicked: For Good” on June 27 and “Miracle” on July 25.
Riverview Park: Six movies will show at the park weekly from June 13 to July 25 (skipping the Fourth of July). Highlights include “Hamnet” (June 13) and “F1: The Movie” (June 27).
Troy Hill Citizens Park: Attendees can see “Hoppers” in the park on Aug. 3.
Frankie Pace Park: “Hoppers” will also show at this Downtown park on Aug. 5.
Liberty Green Park: See “Lilo and Stitch (2025)” on Aug. 12.
