A Greensburg man was sentenced to state prison Thursday in connection with an armed robbery last year.
William Owen Altman, 20, was ordered to spend two to four years behind bars followed by two years on probation, according to a sentencing order.
He was arrested last year by Southwest Greensburg police after two Oakland Street residents reported a man wearing a ski mask broke in May 4, 2025 and pointed a handgun at them before taking an e-bike, according to court papers. The residents identified the suspect as Altman, police sad.
He pleaded guilty in February to robbery and a weapons violation. Other charges, including aggravated assault and theft, were dismissed, according to court records. Altman was ordered to pay $1,800 in restitution.
A second person arrested during the investigation — Brent Alexander Smetanka, 21, of Altoona — was sentenced in June to time served to 23 months on two counts of assault of a law enforcement officer. Authorities said he spit on two Greensburg officers.
