The Tarentum Night Market opened the season Thursday with chilly temperatures and under cloudy skies, but still grew a steady crowd.
The market, founded in 2020, was in danger of not happening this summer after organizers said they couldn’t afford liability insurance costs.
Trib Total Media, parent company of TribLive and the Valley News Dispatch edition of the Tribune-Review, stepped in to sponsor the event and foot the insurance bill.
The market is scheduled for two other dates: June 11 and Aug. 13. Festivities begin at 5 p.m.
The stretch of East Sixth Avenue between Lock and Corbet streets is the designated location for vendors, culinary delights and family friendly deejay.
East Sixth is closed from 4 to 8 p.m. on market days to ensure safe vendor setup and event walkability.
