Despite holding a three-goal lead to open the third period, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins lost in overtime to the Springfield Thunderbirds, 4-3, in Game 2 of the Atlantic Division final series at Mohegan Arena in Wilkes-Barre on Thursday.
The best-of-five series is tied, 1-1.
Forwards Tristan Broz, Avery Hayes and Bill Zonnon all scored goals for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton while forward Mikhail Ilyin contributed two assists.
Goaltender Sergei Murashov stopped 41 of 45 shots as his postseason record fell to 4-2.
Thunderbirds forward Akil Thomas scored the winning goal at 13:44 of overtime.
