Stuntpig, a sandwich shop that emphasizes cured and smoked meats and made-from-scratch ingredients, announced its last day of service will be May 23. The news comes just two years after the shop moved from its food truck wheels to a brick-and-mortar location on Murray Avenue in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh.
“We find ourselves at an intersection of factors and circumstances that require us to take a break and re-assess,” a Thursday Instagram post from the restaurant said. “It’s with much pride and satisfaction that we move to close this chapter.”
The post alluded that owners of the restaurant, Cody Maze and Ariel Alexander, are already working on a way to keep producing food for the public. They asked customers to respect the operation’s privacy saying, “Let’s not make anybody cry at work with too many questions right now, pretty please?”
“While it’s been a knockout, it’s kinda knocked us out too,” the post said. “Many thanks are owed to swaths of yinz. it’s been a real deal privilege cooking for everybody.”
