After Armstrong County Sheriff Frank Pitzer and several deputies arrived at Niki’s Quick Six in Parks Township early Friday afternoon, the bar-restaurant abruptly closed its doors.
Niki’s parking lot was the scene of an April 26 shooting that left one woman dead and three others wounded. Homicide charges against David James Dunmire, 36, were held for court last week.
Pitzer said he served owner Niki Hosack with civil documents. Aside from saying they were not related to a lawsuit, the sheriff declined to describe the content of the papers.
Hosack, who also declined to divulge the contents of the documents, had been in the midst of a TribLive interview when officers arrived. She said she was unsure how long the bar would be closed.
The documents were not immediately available online or at the Armstrong County Courthouse in Kittanning. Court staff described it as an emergency injunction but would not comment further on its contents.
After the officers departed, several patrons left the bar and Hosack and staff began loading items from the establishment into a car.
Niki’s previously issued a statement on social media saying the shooting was “tragic and unacceptable” and that the bar was “fully cooperating with authorities.”
At Dunmire’s preliminary hearing last week, several witnesses — including the wounded Hector Saballos and Dominik Dellach — testified that the shooting began after several customers attempted to intervene in an altercation that began in the bar parking lot just after 1 a.m.
Jessica Hilliard, a 34-year-old mother of three, was killed in the incident. Saballos said she had been placing herself between people in an attempt to break things up.
Bartender Rebecca Boston remains in Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, paralyzed from the waist down from a gunshot wound, state police Trooper Timothy Reilly told the court.
An employee at Niki’s Spring Church location said the establishment was operating normally.
Parks Township police and state police did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
