Pittsburgh Penguins forward Sidney Crosby was held without a point for Canada, which opened play in the International Ice Hockey Federation’s World Championship tournament with a 5-3 win against Sweden in a preliminary round game at BCF Arena in Fribourg, Switzerland on Friday.
Opening play on the left wing of the top line, Crosby logged 17:36 of ice time on 20 shifts and was 1 for 1 on faceoffs.
Penguins defenseman Parker Wotherspoon also suited up for Canada. Starting the contest on the left side of the top pairing, Wotherspoon did not record a point. Recording 14:42 of ice time on 19 shifts, Wotherspoon had three shots.

Penguins defenseman Connor Clifton and forward Tommy Novak were each held without a point for the United States in a 3-1 loss to Switzerland in a preliminary round game at Swiss Life Arena in Zurich.
Clifton opened play on the right side of the third pairing and recorded one shot while logging 13:21 of ice time on 18 shifts.
Novak began the contest as the second-line center. Clocking 13:43 of ice time on 19 shifts, Novak had one shot and was 4 for 7 (57.1%) on faceoffs.
