WPIAL Class 3A champion North Allegheny and Class 2A runner-up North Catholic are still in the running for a state championship.
North Allegheny had no problems with District 1 runner-up Central Bucks West in the PIAA quarterfinals Friday in Hershey, earning a 3-0 sweep.
At No. 1 and No. 2 singles, Advaita Sircar beat Salil Ponamgi, 6-1, 6-0, and Ashwin Sudhakar routed Alan Zhang, 6-1, 6-1. The No. 2 doubles team of Siddarth Yerram and Ronit Ginde also won in straight sets, beating Nigel Mathur and Arthur Chen 7-6, 6-1.
North Allegheny will (19-0) will face Unionville (21-2) in the semifinals at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Elsewhere in the bracket, WPIAL runner-up Upper St. Clair lost 3-1 to District 2 champion Abington Heights.
In Class 2A, North Catholic swept the doubles matches to secure a 3-2 victory over District 1 champion Bishop Shanahan.
The No. 2 team of Jackson Schlegel and Dylan Bopp defeated Parker Widel and Chase Hope in a three-set battle, 6-2, 0-6, 7-5. The No. 1 team of Paddy McCabe and Lenny Splane rolled to a 6-4, 6-1 victory over Carter Steinetz and John Synder. Jake Sinclair also won at No. 3 singles, beating William Engle, 6-1, 7-6 (5).
The Trojans (15-4) will play District 10 champ Cathedral Prep (16-3) in the semifinals at noon.
WPIAL champ Quaker Valley, meanwhile, was knocked off by District 4 champ Jersey Shore.
