The Quaker Valley boys lacrosse team is a veteran group. Normally, there are seven upperclassmen in its starting lineup.
“This senior group and previous assistant coaches on staff really welcomed my arrival and have allowed me to help build something that future generations of players can look forward to,” said Ryan Riesmeyer, QV’s first-year coach. “They’ve shown younger players what it means to compete, care about your teammates and represent your school the right way. I truly believe this group has laid a solid foundation for where Quaker Valley lacrosse is headed moving forward, and there are exciting things coming for this program.
“I think the biggest thing that stands out about this team is the growth and belief they’ve developed throughout the year. This group has bought into competing for each other every single day, and it’s been special to watch. We’ve played a competitive schedule, battled through adversity and continued to improve.”
QV started out 7-1 this season and finished 9-4 overall, landing the No. 10 seed for the WPIAL Class 2A playoffs. The Quakers finished 6-4 in Section 2, tied for fifth place with Indiana.
QV’s starting lineup consists of seniors Max Modrovich and Jacob Keisel and junior Jack Watson at the attack position with seniors Hunter Kronk and Jace Vasbinder and junior Nate Miller at midfield.
“I think our performance this season was pretty good,” Vasbinder said. “With the short season we had, we made the most of the time, practices and games. We all want to win, and we all give it our all to do just that.
“Our main strengths, in my opinion, are our endurance and overcoming adversity. I have high hopes for our team in the playoffs. My expectations are to just take it game by game, win by win and see how far that gets us.”
The Quakers’ defensive corps was bolstered by seniors Ben McHenry, Logan Benedict and Luke Koehler along with junior Dom Anderson. Senior Aidan Dillman is the Quakers’ starting goalkeeper.
Two seniors, Colin York (LSM/D) and Sam Murray (MF), sophomore MF Ian Elliot and junior MF Quinn Marcotte are top reserves.
“Colin York is a big contributor,” Riesmeyer said. “This senior class has helped prove that this program can compete, grow and create something special through hard work, leadership and belief in one another,” Riesmeyer said. “They’ve helped establish a new standard and culture for Quaker Valley lacrosse, and I truly believe they are laying the foundation for even bigger things ahead.
“What this group has accomplished will have a lasting impact on the future generations that come through this program.”
The Quakers developed into a strong defensive team in 2026 with an 8.2 goals-against average and 10.8 goals for offensively.
QV held all nine opponents to single digits in its nine wins and early in the season posted a 16-0 shutout against Allderdice and won a 17-1 decision against Beaver.
“I think the biggest thing that stands out about this team is the growth and belief they’ve developed throughout the year,” Riesmeyer said. “This group has bought into competing for each other every single day, and it’s been special to watch. We’ve played a competitive schedule, battled through adversity and continued to improve.
“What makes this season even more meaningful is the leadership from our senior class, which helped us coaches begin to shift the culture of our program. They’ve raised the standard with their work ethic, toughness, leadership and commitment to Quaker Valley lacrosse.”
Offensively, the Quakers have been led by Keisel, Vasbinder, Miller, Modrovich, Kronk, McHenry and sophomore Roman Gabriele (ATT/MF).
“A huge part my vision is the investment into the entire Quaker Valley lacrosse community, especially the middle school and youth levels,” Riesmeyer said. “Our staff is fully invested in developing the next generation of players and helping grow the game throughout the community.
“We truly believe it takes an entire community to make big changes, and that’s what is happening right now at Quaker Valley. The connection between our varsity players, youth players, families, coaches and community support has, without a doubt, strengthened tremendously, and that’s a major reason why this program is moving in such a positive direction so quickly.
“I also hope the younger players in our community are watching what this group is building and getting excited about the future of Quaker Valley lacrosse. This senior class has helped prove that this program can compete, grow and create something special through hard work, leadership and belief in one another. They’ve helped establish a new standard and culture, and I truly believe they are laying the foundation for even bigger things ahead. What this group has accomplished will have a lasting impact on future generations.”
