One Division I scholarship offer usually opens the door for more.

Penn-Trafford junior Nick Ponko added another offer to his first one, with Richmond reaching out to the 6-foot-2, 190-pound wide receiver and safety.

His other offer is from Lehigh.

Ponko had a team-high 42 receptions for 714 yards and five touchdowns last season for the Warriors.

Several Division II programs also are courting him as he begins to prep for his senior season.

Ligonier Valley football kicker Eric Dietz received an invitation to the Kohl’s National Invitational Scholarship Kicking Camp on July 18-19 in Gatlinburg, Tenn.

Dietz, a freshman, made 14 of 17 extra points last season. He averaged 41.6 yards per kickoff.

He participated in the 2025 Kohl’s Eastern Winter Showcase where he made eight field goals and scored 85.25 on kickoffs. His top kick went 55 yards and had a hang-time of 3.06 seconds.

Hoffer to EF

Ben Hoffer, who was the head coach of the Yough football team for the last four years before he resigned in March, will be back on the sidelines this fall.

Hoffer, 35, will be an assistant at Elizabeth Forward. He plans to serve as an offensive coach for the Warriors.

Hoffer was 10-30 at Yough, his alma mater where he is the second all-time leading rusher.

More offers for Jones

Avonworth football standout Jaden Jones is stacking Division I scholarship offers as the junior chases a Power Four college career.

Jones is the son of former Greensburg Salem athletes Vertus Jones and Rachel (Stewart) Jones, a wrestler and track/cross country runner, but has used his athleticism to excel on the gridiron.

Jones, a 6-foot-3, 185-pound receiver and defensive back, has seen offers come in fast. His list, which has too many schools to count on two hands, now includes national champion Indiana — Norwin alum and offensive coordinator Mike Shanahan offered him — Purdue, Connecticut, Illinois, Nebraska, South Carolina, North Carolina, Colorado, Mississippi State, Arkansas, Florida State, Marshall, Rutgers, UCLA, North Carolina State, Colorado, Duke, Ohio State, Louisville, Penn State, Syracuse, Maryland, Kentucky, Pitt, and West Virginia.
