The East swept the West in a pair of games at the PSFCA East-West All-Star Games on Sunday at Chapman Field in Mechanicsburg.
The East team won the small school game 19-14 and the big school game 14-10.
The Clairton contingent led the way for the West in the small school game.
Bears quarterback Jeff Thompson III (Slippery Rock) threw for 280 yards and a touchdown, a 71-yard scoring strike to South Allegheny’s Drew Cook (Duquesne) in the second quarter. Clairton’s Taris Wooding (Slippery Rock) caught a 26-yard TD pass from Penn-Cambria’s Brady Jones to give the West a 14-7 lead in the first half.
The East won on a 19-yard touchdown run by Lancaster Catholic’s Brandon Way (Villanova) with 31 seconds to go. Matt Bodnar (Mount Union) threw for 149 yards and two touchdowns to Notre Dame Green Pond teammate Alex Clark (East Stroudsburg) for the East.
For the West, Cook finished with four catches for 126 yards, Wooding made four grabs for 83 yards, Clairton’s Donte Wright (Slippery Rock) had three catches for 51 yards and Monessen’s Tavian Taylor (Waynesburg) had a 46-yard catch. Clairton’s Michael Ruffin (Slippery Rock) led the West in rushing with 26 yards on three carries.
Easton quarterback Cole Ordway (West Chester) led the East in the big school game, throwing a 19-yard touchdown pass to high school teammate Kurtis Crossman (Stonehill) and scoring on a 68-yard run.
Central Catholic’s Aiden Nasiadka (West Liberty) had five catches for 62 yards, including a 37-yard scoring pass from DuBois’ Trey Wingard (Delaware), for the West.
Mars’ Gabe Hein (Sacred Heart) had four catches for 84 yards and Moon’s AJ Buford (Dodge City CC) caught four passes for 55 yards.
