Police search for suspect following Homewood shooting

Pittsburgh police are searching for a suspect after a shooting early Monday in Homewood North that sent a woman to the hospital, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.

Officers responded at approximately 2:15 a.m. to the 7000 block of Idlewild Street for two ShotSpotter alerts totaling 25 rounds.

A woman was found with a single graze wound to the leg at the intersection of North Lang Avenue and Forrest Way. She was transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

A second woman was also transported to a local hospital for a dislocated knee, police said.

“Preliminary information indicates a fight broke out prior to the incident,” Pittsburgh Public Safety said.

Multiple parked vehicles in the area were damaged after being struck by rounds, according to police.

Police said the investigation is still active, and officers are reviewing all CCTV footage from the area.

Komen More Than Pink Walk surpasses fundraising goal

Sunday’s More Than Pink Walk by Komen Pittsburgh raised over $400,000 toward breast cancer awareness and research efforts.

The Schenley Park event drew nearly 4,000 to walk for the annual event, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.

This year’s goal coming into the event was to raise $375,000 — and that goal was surpassed before Sunday’s walk even started.
