If the first practice rep for the 2026 Pittsburgh Steelers means anything, it signals a shift in the configuration of the offensive line.

For the first 11-on-11 reps involving veteran players in advance of the coming season, Troy Fautanu and Mason McCormick were on the left side of the offensive line for Monday’s workout at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex. Fautanu previously has been the Steelers’ starting right tackle and McCormick spent the past two seasons as their starting right guard.

Monday was the first practice-like organized team activities work of the spring. Over the next four weeks, the Steelers will have 12 such practices – all of which are voluntary with the exception of three mandatory minicamps June 2-4.

Dylan Cook was at right tackle and Spencer Anderson right guard. Anderson is the reigning top backup at guard and Cook played the final five games of last season as the starting right tackle after the season-ending neck injury to Broderick Jones.

The Steelers have a hole in the starting lineup at guard after veteran Isaac Seumalo left via free agency. Seumalo, though, was the starter on the left side.

McCormick and Fautanu each played on the left side in college.

Jones, incidentally, was in uniform and taking part in the stretch portions of practice that were open to media.
