3-year-old boy killed by vehicle in Pittsburgh’s Upper Hill

A 3-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a vehicle Monday in Pittsburgh’s Upper Hill neighborhood, authorities said.

Police responded at about 7:30 p.m. to the 700 block of Anaheim Street.

According to Pittsburgh Public Safety officials, a preliminary investigation found that the child ran into the street, mid-block, and was hit by a vehicle.

He was transported by to a local hospital in critical condition, where he later died.

The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with officers, officials said. There were no signs that the driver was under the influence at the time of the collision, public safety officials said.

The Collision Investigation Unit is investigating. It will be followed in coming weeks by a site visit from the city’s Vision Zero Fatal Crash Response Team, which includes the Pittsburgh Police Collision Investigation Unit, to evaluate potential crash factors.
