Baldwin-Whitehall School District’s proposed budget for the next school year would raise property taxes 4.7%.

The proposal, which totals about $100.7 million, calls to increase the district’s millage rate from 25 mills to 26.175 mills, said Mark Cherpak, director of finance and operations.

A property owner with a home assessed at $120,000, the district’s median, would pay $141 more in annual taxes, from $3,000 to $3,141.

The proposal is $9.5 million more than this school year’s budget.

Cherpak attributed additional staff, special education costs and district projects to the proposed tax increase.

There are no program additions or cuts to the budget.

The school board will take a final vote on the budget on June 10.
