Heidelberg police chief found dead in his police car

Heidelberg police Chief Dennis Dixon

, 57, of South Park, was found dead in his patrol car in the 600 block of Grant Avenue at around 8:50 p.m. Monday, borough officials said in a statement.

Dixon joined the department in 2008 and was later promoted to chief in 2018.

A cause and manner of death was not immediately disclosed.

The Allegheny County Police Department is investigating.

“Our thoughts are with Chief Dixon’s family and loved ones during this difficult time,” borough officials said in the statement.
