How they got here: Keystone Oaks: Defeated 10-Deer Lakes 6-0 in first round, and 2-Mohawk 2-0 in quarterfinals; Mt. Pleasant: Had first-round bye; Defeated 6-Burrell, 9-4
Players to watch: Reagan Magno, Keystone Oaks; Carly Surma, Mt. Pleasant
Extra bases: Keystone Oaks pulled a shocker in the quarterfinals with a shutout of No. 2 seed and two-time defending champion Mohawk. Magno struck out eight and limited the Warriors to three hits. Nina Buckley had a hit and an RBI, and Kailyn Brannon also drove in a run. Keystone Oaks lost to Avonworth in the quarterfinals last year. The Golden Eagles, who have won 11 straight games, were winless (0-15) just three seasons ago. They have never won a WPIAL title in softball. … Mt. Pleasant returns to the semifinals or the first time since 2021 when the Vikings won WPIAL and PIAA championships. A mostly young lineup keeps producing. Surma had a double and two RBIs, Chloe Borelli had three RBIs and Jenna Whipkey knocked in a pair in a quarterfinal win over Burrell that followed a first-round bye. Mt. Pleasant hasn’t lost to a 3A team this season. Pitcher Danica Trainer continues to build big-game experience.
