A Derry Township woman was under the influence of drugs at the time of a Dec. 28 crash that state police said left another motorist seriously injured, according to court papers.

Troopers said Breah P. Gonzalez, 27, didn’t have a valid drivers license, and had been convicted 10 times previously for driving with a suspended or revoked license.

The crash was reported around 8 a.m. on Cameo Lane in Hempfield. Investigators determined the vehicle Gonzalez was driving drifted across the center line and hit an oncoming vehicle whose driver attempted to swerve out of the way, according to court papers.

The other motorist sustained serious internal injuries including a ruptured spleen and broken ribs, police said. Both he and Gonzalez were taken to hospitals.

Troopers reported finding a glass smoking device and small bags of cocaine and marijuana in the vehicle Gonzalez was driving, according to court papers. Hospital officials turned over to police a large bag of cocaine and a scale that were concealed in her bra, according to court papers.

A toxicology test showed cocaine and various forms of THC, the psychoactive component of marijuana, in her blood, police said.

Gonzalez is charged with aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, drug possession and related offenses. She was arraigned Wednesday and was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison on $75,000 bail.

A preliminary hearing is set for May 27. She did not have an attorney listed in online court records.

Gonzalez is awaiting trial in three drug cases filed by North Huntingdon police stemming from incidents in November and January, according to court records.
