Stefani Pashman, CEO of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development, is stepping down by the end of 2026 after more than eight years in the role.

The economic development group, which deals with public and private sector leaders across Southwestern Pennsylvania, announced Pashman’s move Wednesday.

Pashman is the first woman to head the Allegheny Conference, founded in 1944 by corporate and civic leaders. She arrived in 2017 after stints leading the workforce development group Partner4Work and guiding Medicaid policy for former Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell.

She’ll remain in the role until a replacement is named.

Leroy Ball, incoming chairman of the Allegheny Conference and CEO of Pittsburgh-based chemical company Koppers, will lead the search for a successor. Whoever is chosen will take over an organization that, while less central to coordinating economic initiatives than it once was, has substantial sway in the region.

The Allegheny Conference collaborated with the state, Allegheny County and Pittsburgh on a nearly $600 million Downtown Pittsburgh revitalization plan ahead of the 2026 NFL Draft that included transformations to Point State Park and Market Square.
