Revolutionary War gear to be displayed in Tarentum
The Alle-Kiski Valley Heritage Museum in Tarentum will host members of the Independent Battalion of Westmoreland County from noon to 2 p.m. at the museum, 224 E. Seventh Ave.
Muskets, tomahawks and other equipment used to win the Revolutionary War will be on display. Admission is free.
Help needed to prepare for Memorial Day
• The Oakmont Lions Club will welcome volunteers at 9 a.m. Saturday to plant red geraniums on the graves of veterans at Oakmont-Verona Cemetery. Please bring your own tools.
• Prospect Cemetery in Brackenridge will place flags on the graves of veterans at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Anyone who wishes to help should meet at the Brackenridge Circle of the cemetery.
Annual night race scheduled July 18 in Apollo
Roaring Run Watershed Association will sponsor its annual 5K night race/walk, “Race to the Moon,” at 9 p.m. July 18 at the trail along the Kiski River.
Parking is at 310 Clifford Ave in Apollo. Everyone is bused to the trail and a baggage claim is at the trail start/finish line. Check-in will begin at 5:30 p.m. Prizes will be awarded afterward.
Cost is $25, plus a $2.75 fee in advance and $30 on race day; and includes a race day T-shirt for those who register by July 1. Registration deadline is July 16.
