Patient steals ambulance in Beaver County
A patient stole an ambulance Wednesday night in Industry Borough and fled from troopers, Pennsylvania State Police said.
Justin Corrie, 23, was identified as the suspect, TribLive news partner WTAE reported. Paramedics had responded to a call around 7 p.m. on Midland Beaver Road. While medics were treating Corrie, he allegedly stole their ambulance and drove off toward the parkway, police said.
Police attempted to stop the ambulance, but said Corrie failed to yield to emergency lights and sirens. He was eventually stopped after police used intervention tactics to bring the ambulance to a controlled stop at a GetGo gas station on Route 18 in Center Township. There, he was taken into custody and transported to the Beaver police station.
He is being charged with fleeing or attempting to elude police, theft of a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, reckless driving, careless driving, speeding and other traffic violations.
An investigation is ongoing.
Police investigate car fire and collision in Knoxville
A vehicle caught fire Wednesday morning in Pittsburgh’s Knoxville neighborhood after crashing into a fence.
Police are investigating the incident, which TribLive news partner WTAE said happened at the intersection of Knox and Moore avenues.
The vehicle fire was under control within 15 minutes of fire crews being on scene.
Witnesses told police several juveniles fled the area and boarded a bus before first responders arrived. Officers later identified the individuals, who were released pending further investigation.
Water main break in McKeesport
A McKeesport road caved Wednesday night following a water main break.
Officials said repairs could take up to eight hours, TribLive news partner WTAE reported, at the scene near Fifth Avenue and Walnut Street.
The water main break was 8 inches long, according to the Municipal Authority of Westmoreland County.
During repairs, the road will be closed between Lysle Boulevard and Sixth Avenue, and traffic on the 200 and 300 blocks of Fifth Avenue is also impacted.
