Bria Bosiljevac threw a five-inning, one-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts to lead top-seeded Shaler to a 10-0 victory over No. 5 Baldwin in the WPIAL Class 5A softball semifinals Thursday.
Haley Machajewski went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs and Addy Aleski also homered for the Titans (20-1), who will face No. 11 North Hills in the championship game. Mackenzie Bowen had the lone hit for the Highlanders (18-5).
Bentworth 2, Chartiers-Houston 1 – No. 3 Bentworth (20-2) scored two runs in the top of the first and Sydney Gonglik threw a complete-game four-hitter with eight strikeouts to make it stand up, lifting the Bearcats to a Class 2A semifinal win. Sydney Gonglik doubled and scored and Makayla Gonglik went 2 for 2 with an RBI for Bentworth, which will face No. 5 Neshannock in the finals. Lauren Rush had two hits and a run scored and Taryne Drilak singled and drove in a run for No. 2 Chartiers-Houston (18-3).
Blackhawk 13, North Catholic 4 – Winning pitcher Kylie Prisuta struck out 10 in a complete game and went 2 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs to lead No. 3 Blackhawk (12-4) in the Class 4A semifinals. Eva Parris and Lara Selick each singled, doubled and drove in two runs and Brynn Hysong and Morgan Alexander each had three hits and an RBI for the Cougars, who will take on No. 1 Elizabeth Forward in the finals. Olivia Kaminsky went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs and Mary Kotwica and Kennedy Brown each had three hits for No. 7 North Catholic (14-6).
Carmichaels 9, West Greene 0 – Bailey Barnyak threw a complete-game two-hitter with 12 strikeouts and went 3 for 4 with an RBI to lead No. 2 Carmichaels (17-4) in the Class A semifinals. Carys McConnell went 2 for 3 with a triple, homer and three RBIs and Joselyn Carter had two hits and two RBIs for the Mighty Mikes, who will meet No. 1 Union in the finals. Rylee Yeager doubled and Kendra Tharp tripled for West Greene (13-8).
Neshannock 7, Laurel 5 – Callie Biondi singled, doubled and drove in four runs as No. 5 Neshannock (17-5) kept its bid for a fifth straight WPIAL title alive with a win in the Class 2A semifinals. Gianna DeSalvo, Brenna Frengel and Jaidon Nogay each had three hits for the Lancers, who scored three runs in the sixth and three more in the seventh. Neshannock will face No. 3 Bentworth in the finals. Alexis Bair doubled and knocked in a run, Mayci Lang had three hits and an RBI and Hayden Seifert drove in two runs for No. 1 Laurel (15-6), which scored four times in the bottom of the seventh in a comeback bid that fell just short.
Union 17, Jefferson-Morgan 7 – Irelyn Fisher went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs and Olivia Williams went 4 for 5 with a double and four RBIs to lead No. 1 Union (18-2) in the Class A semifinals. Olivia Benedict and Maddie Settle each had three hits for the Scotties, who will meet No. 2 Carmichaels in the finals. Emilee Bazzoli homered, Kelsey Vessels went 3 for 3 with a double and Ashlynn Snyder singled, doubled and drove in three for No. 5 Jefferson-Morgan (16-7).

Ellwood City 6, Riverside 5 – No. 3 Ellwood City (18-3) used late-game heroics for the second straight game, scoring four runs in the bottom of the sixth to knock out defending champion Riverside (12-8), the seventh seed, in the Class 2A semifinals. Gino Biondi hit the go-ahead two-run single with two outs in the sixth. Geordan Bokor went 1 for 3 with three RBIs for the Wolverines, who will meet No. 5 South Park in the finals. Dylan Meyer singled, doubled and drove in three runs for the Panthers.
Boys volleyball
Allderdice 3, McDowell 2 — Keenu Brooks had 15 kills and five blocks as Allderdice completed the reverse sweep in a PIAA Class 3A subregional, defeating McDowell 21-25, 19-25, 25-22, 25-23, 15-12. Soren Stout added 10 kills and six blocks, Mathias Allen had a school-record 46 assists and Mac Horvath finished with 21 digs and five kills for the Dragons.
