Whether you support or oppose the Trump administration’s policies in general, I would hope that we all can agree that nuclear weapons, in the hands of radical Iranian religious zealots, who repeatedly have vowed to destroy Israel and the United States, is a bad idea.
After 47 years of open hostility toward the United States and Israel, and after statements by Iranian negotiators, that they now possess enough highly enriched uranium to build 11 nuclear weapons, President Trump, in coordination with Israel, took preemptive military action to stop this potential nuclear threat to the world. If the Iranian regime did acquire a nuclear weapon, they would use it to blackmail the rest of the world, and potentially eliminate Israel. We need look no further than North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un, who recently changed the North Korean constitution to mandate a nuclear response to any move to decapitate the North Korean leadership.
Iran is now a world pariah. They have attacked their Middle East neighbors, and international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, with ballistic missiles and drones. Their only allies now seem to be Hamas, Hezbollah, the Chinese and the congressional Democrats. Wouldn’t it be nice if both political parties could stand united, while our troops are in danger abroad, trying to keep us safe at home?
