Shenango junior Anna McKinley does not usually nail her first throw of a meet.

She sure did Friday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships.

McKinley won the PIAA Class 2A javelin with a winning throw of 139 feet, 10 inches, and joined her older sister Tori, who won the shot put and discus in 2017 while attending Hickory, as a state champ.

“I got interested in throwing while watching my sister win PIAA titles,” McKinley said. “This means a lot. I give a lot of credit to my coach.

“It was my best throw ever. It is my favorite event, and I just like how it goes through the air.”

Now McKinley can look forward to being a repeat champion.

“I have not thought that far ahead,” she said. “I just want to enjoy this one.”
