Camp

• Jacobs Creek Watershed Association will sponsor a young naturalist camp June 8 to 10 at Laurelville Retreat Center, 941 Laurelville Lane, Mt. Pleasant Township, for children ages 10 to 14. Festivals

• Mammoth Fest at Mammoth Park, Mt. Pleasant Township, will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. May 31 on the park lake shore. There will be free parking and admission, a crafts marketplace, an exotic animal show, music, food, bingo and carnival rides. An all-day activity pass costs $5, cash only, and includes unlimited access to carnival rides, a petting zoo and more. The Jaded Lips band will play garage rock, soul and indie hooks at 1 and 3 p.m. at Pavilion 11. • Youngwood Lions Club Strawberry Festival, 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Christ Church, 100 Lincoln St., Youngwood. Cost: $9; younger than 12, $4.50; includes strawberries, ice cream, cake and drink. Gardening

• Murrysville Garden Club will host a program, “Too Many Hostas?,” at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Murrysville Community Library, 4130 Sardis Road. Penn State Master Gardener Jim Kalka will be the speaker. Public welcome.

• A hands-on outdoor gardening workshop will be offered at 1 p.m. May 30 at the Westmoreland County Historical Society, 809 Forbes Trail Road, Hempfield. Memorial Day events

• Scottdale’s Memorial Day parade will line up at 10:45 a.m. Monday in the 15 Centennial Way parking lot. The procession will begin with a ceremony at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Wall, proceed to the Scottdale and St. John the Baptist cemeteries and follow the path of hero banners to Woodcrest Senior Living, where at 11:45 a.m. there will be a ceremony and refreshments. Broadway will be closed from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Sponsored by the Scottdale American Legion, Community Civic and Industrial Association and Elks.

• The New Alexandria Community Choir will perform at the 11 a.m. Monday service at New Alexandria Community Cemetery, Cemetery Road.

• South Greensburg American Legion will sponsor the following services Monday: 11 a.m. at Midway-St. Clair Volunteer Fire Department, 1966 Broadway Ave.; 11:30 a.m., South Greensburg Fire Department, 1515 Poplar St.; noon, Roosevelt Club Honor Roll, 2118 Keystone Ave.; and 1:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post, 1301 Broad St.

Senior Citizen news
