Wildlife Lodge Road bridge in Lower Burrell now has weight limits

New weight limits on the Wildlife Lodge Road bridge in Lower Burrell will force heavier vehicles to find alternate routes.

PennDOT announced that single vehicles heavier than 25 tons, and 30 tons for trucks pulling trailers — with the exception of emergency vehicles — are prohibited.

The guideline was put into effect after a routine inspection uncovered deterioration along the span, officials said.

There previously was no weight restriction on the bridge.

Wildlife Lodge Road bridge travels over Chartiers Run, just before the Officer Kotecki Memorial Park.

It was built more than 70 years ago.
