SHIPPENSBURG — Winchester Thurston senior DeShea Cochran said she was disappointed with her second-place performance in the WPIAL Class 2A 400-meter dash.
She made up for it Saturday at the PIAA Track and Field Championships at Shippensburg University’s Seth Grove Stadium.
The Delaware State commit won gold in the 400.
“It was my last race, so I put all my efforts to winning my final high school race,” Cochran said. “I was trailing with 200 meters left, so I kicked it in. Losing last week gave me a lot of motivation.
“I had been waiting for this moment since finishing second as a junior,” Cochran said. “That motivated me to win a state title.”
