Aris Lamanna is on the comeback trail.

The former Franklin Regional standout soccer goalkeeper announced recently that she has been cleared for physical activity with no restrictions after she underwent shoulder surgery in November.

Six months of rehabilitation are in the past as she eyes a successful third season of college soccer.

A sophomore goalie at Coastal Carolina, she allowed 18 goals last season (1.13 per game) while playing every game for the Chanticleers. She had 48 saves (72.7%) and posted four shutouts in 16 games.

“The process has definitely been challenging, but I’ve learned a lot from it,” Lamanna said. “Going through surgery and rehab as a goalkeeper has tested me mentally just as much physically. There were a lot of days where progress felt slow, but I tried to stay consistent and focus on getting a little better every day.

“There was a lot of watching from the sidelines, which is always tough when you just want to be out there helping the team. But it really forced me to lock in, control what I could control, and appreciate the game from a different perspective.”

The 5-foot-11 Lamanna began noncontact strength training in April and underwent physical therapy before finally receiving medical clearance.

Baseball

Senior outfielder Jack Whalen (Norwin) and sophomore pitcher Sean Williams also made the first team, and junior shortstop Owen Henne and junior pitcher Marc Wechtenhiser were chosen for the second team.

McGuire added another high-end honor when he was named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-American third team.

Seton Hill: Redshirt junior outfielder Kassidy Wittig was named to the Division II Conference Commissioners Association Atlantic Region first team.

Earlier in the season, she was named to the All-PSAC West first team.

Men’s golf

West Virginia: Sophomore Nick Turowski (Penn-Trafford) shot a final-round 5-under-par 67, the second-lowest round posted by a Mountaineer in an NCAA event, to finish 18th at the NCAA Marana Regional at The Gallery Golf Club in Marana, Ariz.

Turowski opened with rounds of 70 and 73 for a 6-under total of 210.

The team’s 5-under total for the tournament set a program record and was good enough for eighth place in the 14-team event. WVU was 11-under over the last two rounds.

The Mountaineers won three tournaments for the first time in a season and made the NCAA Regional for the second time in three years.

WVU made the NCAA Division I golf championship. Turowski had five top five finishes this season.

Men’s lacrosse

Seton Hill: Five Griffins players were picked for the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-North Region teams.

Carter Green and Cody are three-time all-region picks.

Cody, both Greens (third team), and Day and McCann (honorable mention) also were recognized as USILA All-Americans.

Carter Green also is a three-time All-American.
