The Bethel Fife and Drum Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, honored five high school seniors at its April meeting with the DAR Good Citizens Award. Receiving certificates and honorariums were Rose Highfield of Carlynton Jr/Sr High School and Hayate Svitek from Upper St. Clair High School. Award recipients not in attendance were Anna Lucarelli of Seton LaSalle High School, Reese Temme from Baldwin High School and Katnerine Walters of Mt. Lebanon High School.

Rose Highfield was selected as Bethel Fife and Drum Chapter’s DAR Good Citizen.

This award recognizes and rewards high school seniors who exemplify the qualities of dependability, service, leadership and patriotism in their schools and communities. The students are selected by their teachers and peers.

Once a student is chosen as their school’s DAR Good Citizen the student is invited to participate in the scholarship portion of the program. This consists of a personal statement and essay. Scholarships are awarded at the state, division and national levels.

Rhiannon Strazisar was recently elected to membership into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation’s oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society, at Ithaca College.

Martina Tatalias, a junior mechanical engineering major, was awarded Slippery Rock University’s College of Engineering and Science’s Outstanding Student Academic Leader award.

Biochemistry major Jay Schwierking made the dean’s list at Montclair State University for the fall 2025 semester.

Victorine Nyerere and Corrine Skovranko made the president’s list for the spring 2026 semester at Southern New Hampshire University.

Julia Hoppe was named to the dean’s list at Cedarville University for the spring 2026 semester.
