Bethel Park High School graduation
Bethel Park High School’s graduation ceremony for 338 students will be held at 7 p.m. June 4, at Bethel Park High School Stadium. Rain dates are June 5 at 7 p.m. or June 6 at 10 a.m. at the same location. General admission begins at 6:15 p.m. Sgt. Hunter D. Sparkschance, the school’s military representative, will serve as the featured speaker. Caroline Zelt is valedictorian and Charlotte Gaston is salutatorian.
Authorities investigating bomb threat
The Allegheny County Bomb Squad reported to a Walmart in Bethel Park Shopping Center the morning of May 13 after receiving a report of an explosive device inside the store.
According to Bethel Park police, officers reported to the scene around 8:45 a.m. and evacuated the Walmart and an adjoining Giant Eagle for the building to be searched.
There were no explosives or suspicious devices found. The stores reopened and operated at regular business hours following the event.
There was no threat to the community, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
Bethel Park Junior Council program
Bethel Park’s junior council consists of three to five students each school year. The municipality is currently accepting letters of interest and resumes for the 2026-27 school year. Deadline for submissions is June 17.
Members of junior council must be a Bethel Park resident, a junior or senior in high school, take a pledge of office and attend council meetings. Junior council members are not permitted to vote on action items or attend executive sessions.

South Hills High School reunion
It’s time to reconnect, reminisce and celebrate 50 years since the class of 1976 walked through the hallowed halls of South Hills High School together.
A 50th reunion is set from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 19 at Cefalo’s Banquet Hall, 428 Washington Ave., Carnegie. Parking is free and the space is ADA compliant.
Attendees will be treated to hors d’oeuvres, a buffet dinner, music and dancing, door prizes and a 50/50.
Cost is $95 per person if paid by July 1, $110 per person after July 1 and $120 per person at the door.

Summer camp
Pittsburgh Youth Philharmonic Orchestra is holding a camp from June 15 to 19. In this week-long music intensive, students learn music in string orchestra, band and full orchestra ensembles, culminating in a final performance for family and friends at the end of the week. PYPO summer campers get to take part in activities like bucket drumming, fiddling and improvisation workshops, outdoor games, and more. Camp will be held at Christ United Methodist Church, 44 Highland Road in Bethel Park. Cost is $180 for a half day of camp or $350 for a full day. For more information, visit pypo.org/summercamps.
AUP inviting singles 50 to join
The Association of University People invites singles 50 and over who are four-year college graduates to join them for activities and to meet new people.
Activities include happy hours, brunches, lunches, dinners, meet-ups at music venues, a non-traditional book group, day trips and Scrabble.
Those interested can attend three activities as guests before joining.

South Park’s class of ‘76 reunion
South Park High School’s class of 1976 will celebrate its 50th reunion Aug. 21 at the South Park Fairgrounds.
The festivities will start at noon at The Cottage, near the “clock building.”
The cost is $30 per person, and guests are welcome.
The reunion committee will provide food and cake. Attendees should bring their own beverages, snacks and sides.
