Melanie Murray, who spent much of her career working in the advertising department of the Trib’s Valley News Dispatch, died on Sunday, her family said.
Murray, 75, of Lower Burrell, worked as a multimedia sales representative for the Trib for more than 18 years, rising to the position of advertising director while at the Valley News Dispatch. She retired in 2016.
Former colleagues said Murray had battled cancer for several years.
“Melanie was deeply respected, not only for her dedication to our customers, but also for the spirit of collaboration and kindness she shared with colleagues throughout the organization,” said Jennifer Bertetto, president and CEO of Trib Total Media. “For nearly two decades, she represented the very best of the Trib and the Valley News Dispatch. We are grateful for her many contributions and extend our heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones.”
Rick Monti, a Trib Total Media trustee who worked alongside Murray for many years, recalled her as a dependable colleague and loyal friend.
“As a department head, when you asked Melanie to do something it was getting done,” Monti said. “As a friend, there was nothing she wouldn’t do for you.”
