Alexis Tylenda and Anna Korney scored to lead the Pittsburgh Riveters to a 2-0 victory over nearby rival Steel City FC in USLW action Thursday night.
Bailey Herfuth, fresh off scoring a tying goal against Flower City 1872 on Saturday, made three saves to keep Steel City FC (1-1-0) off the board.
The Riveters (2-0-1) took the lead in the 19th minute when Tylenda took a pass from Kennedy Neighbors and steered a shot around the goalkeeper. They padded their lead in 70th minute when the 16-year-old Korney knocked down a goalkeeper’s clearing attempt and scored.
The Riveters will play the second game of a three-game road swing when they visit the Cleveland Force at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
