An early-morning crash in Harmar involving a Pittsburgh Regional Transit bus sent seven people to the hospital Friday, including five bus riders, according to PRT spokesman Adam Brandolph.
Allegheny Valley VFC Chief Jay Zangrille said that around 7:20 a.m., a dump truck attempted to make a right turn on a red light to Freeport Road from Pearl Street as the PRT bus went straight through the green light on Freeport Road.
The bus collided with the truck as well as another car in the opposite lane of Freeport Road, Zangrille said.
Those transported from the scene suffered minor injuries, and Freeport Road remained closed for about an hour, the chief said.
“It does not appear as though our operator is at fault,” Brandolph said.
The bus suffered major damage and was transported from the scene to a PRT garage, according to Brandolph.
PRT will examine camera footage during a more extensive investigation to come, Brandolph said.
