A teenager has been arrested in the Thursday afternoon beating of a man in East Liberty, police announced Friday.
Pittsburgh police charged the 16-year-old with aggravated assault. He was charged as a juvenile.
Officers from the police bureau’s Zone 5 were dispatched around 4:50 p.m. to South St. Clair and Eva streets for reports of “multiple individuals” attacking a man.
The man, who police have not named, was found unconscious and not breathing, police spokeswoman Cara Cruz said.
He was taken to an area hospital in critical condition, Cruz said. His condition was upgraded Friday to stable.
Cruz said police detained “several males of unknown age” and took them to police headquarters for questioning.
