The Rachel Carson Bridge will close for two weeks to facilitate Pittsburgh’s annual Three Rivers Arts Festival, which will bring live music and a variety of vendors to the brand-new Arts Landing complex Downtown.

The bridge will close at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and reopen at 4 p.m. on June 16, according to the Pittsburgh Department of Public Works.

The Three Rivers Arts Festival, hosted by the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and the Pittsburgh-based entertainment company Flyspace Productions, takes place in two parts between June 5-7 and June 11-14. The festival is free to attend and regularly draws crowds of hundreds of thousands.

This year’s scheduled performers include alt-rock band Spin Doctors and singer Joan Osborne.

Western Pennsylvanians should take note of these other upcoming traffic restrictions:

Pittsburgh

• A single-lane restriction will take place in the Squirrel Hill Tunnel in each direction from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. nightly from Sunday through Thursday. Crews are conducting electrical work.

Allegheny County

• Single-lane closures will take place as needed on Ardmore Boulevard in each direction between Morrow Road and Brinton Road in Wilkinsburg and Forest Hills beginning Monday and through spring 2028. Closures on weekdays will last from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and weeknight closures will last from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m. Workers are conducting improvements related to the $100 million Parkway East betterment project, in conjunction with the Commercial Street Bridge replacement project.

• Lane restrictions will occur on Clairton Boulevard between East Bruceton Street and Mall Drive in Pleasant Hills and Jefferson Hills, beginning at 8 p.m. Friday and continuing through 5 a.m. Monday. Workers are implementing a traffic crossover as part of a broader $19.85 million state investment into Clairton Boulevard involving bridge preservation work and PRT bus stop improvements, among other projects. Northbound traffic will cross over into the southbound lanes through late August, and one lane will travel in each direction.

• Single-lane alternating traffic will take place on Broughton Road between Horning Road and Brownsville Road in South Park beginning Monday and through Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. nightly. Crews are conducting milling and paving operations.

Butler County

• Temporary lane closures will take place on Ekastown Road between Saxonburg Boulevard and Sarver Road in Clinton and Buffalo beginning Monday and through Oct. 1. Workers are conducting gas line maintenance as part of a larger $17.3 million infrastructure project. Flaggers will be on site to direct traffic.

Fayette County

• A portion of Banning Road will close between Jacobs Creek Road and Railroad Street in Perry beginning Monday and through late August as the Wheeling & Lake Erie Railroad performs maintenance. Commuters can follow a posted detour via Route 981, Bob Zaffie Road, Chaintown Road and Cottom Road.

Indiana County

• A single-lane restriction will take place westbound on Route 22 between the Route 119 interchange and Snyder Lane in Burrell beginning Monday through Thursday. Workers are completing a $3.1 million concrete repair project.

Washington County

• The Ten Mile Road/Main Street Bridge in West Bethlehem will close beginning Monday and through late June as part of a $3.73 million preservation project. Commuters can follow a posted detour via Interstate 79 and Lone Pine Road.

• Clover Hill Road in West Pike Run will remain closed between Scenic Drive and California Drive through mid-June as workers complete a $200,000 slide repair project. Commuters can follow a posted detour.

Westmoreland County

• A portion of Second Street in New Kensington will close between Route 366 and Railroad Street beginning Wednesday at 6 a.m. and through Friday at 5 p.m. Allegheny Valley Railroad Company is conducting maintenance. Commuters can follow a posted detour via Seventh Street (Route 56).
