Twelve WPIAL lacrosse teams will take part in the PIAA playoff, starting next week. Six boys teams and six girls teams qualified for the state tournament.
Shady Side Academy and Mars will host doubleheaders in the first round Tuesday.
The Indians (Class 3A) and Fightin’ Planets (2A) won the WPIAL boys lacrosse titles last week. Mt. Lebanon (3A) and Mars (2A) won the WPIAL girls lacrosse championships.
In Class 3A boys, Pine-Richland and Mt. Lebanon will be on the road, while South Fayette and Hampton will be visitors in the Class 2A boys tournament.
On the girls side, Pine-Richland and Fox Chapel will head east and Mt. Lebanon will be the home team against Cumberland Valley at Shady Side Academy in Class 3A. And in Class 2A, Quaker Valley and South Fayette will be road teams in the opening round.
