2 injured in Brookline crash

Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash late Friday in Pittsburgh’s Brookline neighborhood, authorities said.

Emergency crews responded at 10:45 p.m. to Route 51 for a single vehicle collision into a pole, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.

The driver and passenger were trapped, police said. Crews from EMS Rescue 2 and Pittsburgh Bureau of Fire Engine 28 removed the vehicle door and roof to extricate a man and woman.

Both were taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition.

The investigation is ongoing.


Man in custody after Troy Hill robbery

Pittsburgh police, SWAT and EMS tactical medics negotiated with an attempted robber late Friday after the man barricaded himself in a home along Hatteras Street, according to authorities.

The incident happened in the 1600 block of Hatteras in the city’s Troy Hill section.

A female victim suffered some abrasions during the incident and was taken to the hospital for treatment, according to a post by Pittsburgh Public Safety.

The suspect, whose name police have not yet released, surrendered to police and was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant for a probation violation.

He faces additional charges for the robbery.


Police seek help to find missing girl

Pittsburgh police detectives are asking the public for help to find a missing 12-year-old girl from the city’s Knoxville neighborhood.

Lailonna Bernal was last seen Friday morning at her home on Parklow Street, according to police.

Lailonna is described as 5 feet 2 inches tall with brown eyes and brown, shoulder-length dreads.

She attends Urban Pathways school and is known to spend time in the 300 block of Brownsville Road.
