Parking and access around Shaler Area Middle School and Titan Stadium will be limited beginning Monday, June 1 when work on the school’s roof begins.
Restrictions are expected to last through Aug. 24, according to an announcement from the district.
According to the district, residents will still be able to use the stadium track for walking and exercise. Temporary access changes in place throughout construction will include:
• Visitors should not park in the Shaler North Hills Library lot, as those spaces are reserved for library patrons.
• All visitors must enter campus through the south entrance, the shopping center side of the building.
• Parking will be limited to designated spaces on the south side of the building adjacent to the shopping center.
• The road behind the school will be closed to public access and used as a staging area for contractors and construction equipment.
The school board in March awarded four contracts totaling about $4.6 million for work at the middle school. They included about $2 million to Ramp Construction for roofing, $1.6 million to R&B Mechanical for HVAC, $708,000 to A-1 Electric for electrical and about $181,000 to CPP Enterprises for painting.
The board in April approved a bond issue that pays for the work and restructured the district’s debt.
