Addy Aleski homered for the fifth straight postseason game and Bria Bosiljevac threw a five-inning two-hitter with five strikeouts to lead Shaler to a 10-0 victory over Red Land in a PIAA Class 5A first-round softball playoff game Monday.

Jayla Antomachi went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs and Alyssa Schaffold went 3 for 3 with a double and an RBI for the Titans (21-1), who will face Baldwin in Thursday’s quarterfinals. Addie Wagenheim and Keira Gibson had the hits, both singles, for Red Land (20-5).

Baldwin 11, Lower Dauphin 7 – Camryn Temme went 3 for 4 with a double, home run and four RBIs, Reese Temme went 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs and Melina Defelice had two singles and an RBI to lead Baldwin (20-5) to a Class 5A first-round win over Lower Dauphin (18-7). The Highlanders will meet Shaler in Thursday’s quarterfinals.

Bentworth 10, Wilmington 0 – Sydney Gonglik threw a six-inning perfect game with 12 strikeouts for Bentworth (22-2) in a Class 2A first-round win over Wilmington (8-12). Zoie McDonald went 3 for 4 with four RBIs, Makayla Gonglik had a single and double and Alexa Babirad had a single, double and RBI for the Bearcats, who will meet Everett in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Berlin Brothersvalley 2, Carmichaels 0 – Elena Ritchey threw a two-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts to lead Berlin Brothersvalley (21-2) to a Class A first-round win. Ke’Lani Chun and Carys McConnell singled for Carmichaels (17-5). Sam Walker went 2 for 3 with a double and Callie Ritchey went 2 for 3 with an RBI for Berlin Brothersvalley, which will meet Cambridge Springs in Thursday’s quarterfinals.

Blackhawk 12, Punxsutawney 7 – Eva Parris went 3 for 4 with a double, home run and two RBIs, Hannah Nolte went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBIs and Addy Ramer had two singles and three RBIs to lead Blackhawk (13-5) to a Class 4A first-round win. Brinley Hallman went 4 for 5 with two doubles, a home run and two RBIs and Olivia Toven went 3 for 5 with a home run and three RBIs for Punxsutawney (18-4). The Cougars will face Bonner/Prendergast in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Cambridge Springs 8, Jefferson-Morgan 1 – Kayla Crawford struck out 12 in a complete-game win and Angela Hassinger went 2 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs for Cambridge Springs (13-6) in a Class A first-round victory, earning a matchup with Berlin Brothersvalley in the quarterfinals Thursday. Emilee Bazzoli went 2 for 4 with an RBI for Jefferson-Morgan (17-8).

Chartiers-Houston 2, Bellwood Antis 0 – Taryne Drilak threw a three-hit shutout with eight strikeouts for Chartiers-Houston (19-4) in a Class 2A first-round win over Bellwood-Antis (18-5). Sydney English and Aubree Randolph drove in a run apiece and Keira Drilak hit two singles for the Bucs, who will face Montrose in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Elizabeth Forward 12, Bellefonte 2 – Aubri Cimba went 2 for 3 with a home run and three RBIs, Berlyn Holibaugh homered and drove in four runs and Sophie Pasinsky hit a two-run homer for Elizabeth Forward (21-2) in a Class 4A first-round win. Riley Santostefano hit a home run for Bellefonte (11-11). The Warriors will meet Harbor Creek in Thursday’s quarterfinal.

Harbor Creek 2, North Catholic 1 – Brooklyn Cipalla went 2 for 2 with a triple and Lacie Fortin doubled for Harbor Creek (18-5) in a Class 4A first-round win. Hard-luck losing pitcher Kennedy Brown struck out 10 for North Catholic (15-7). Brown and Lauren Golebiewski each went 2 for 3 with a double. Addison Lucas gave up one unearned run with nine strikeouts in a complete game for Harbor Creek, which will face Elizabeth Forward in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Laurel 6, Saegertown 2 – Hailey Fell went 3 for 4 with two doubles, a home run and two RBIs and Hayden Seifert and Lizzy Pascoe singled and drove in a run apiece to lead Laurel (17-6) to a Class 2A first-round win over Saegertown (18-4). Winning pitcher Riley Balcolm struck out eight for the Spartans, who will face Neshannock in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Neshannock 14, Brockway 8 – Gabriella Antuono went 4 for 5 with a double, Lilly Cain had two doubles and an RBI and Alivia Lambo singled and drove in three runs to lead Neshannock (18-6) to a Class 2A first-round win. Elysabeth Myers had a double, triple and two RBIs and Navayda Smith tripled and drove in a run for Brockway (16-4). The Lancers will face Laurel in the quarterfinals Thursday.

North Hills 3, DuBois 0 – Abby Sutton threw a four-hit shutout with five strikeouts to lead North Hills (13-8) to a Class 5A first-round win. Brianna Zwick went 3 for 4 with a double and RBI and Lily Adamski doubled and drove in a run for North Hills, which will meet Thomas Jefferson in the quarterfinals Thursday. Abby Kalgren went 2 for 3 with a double for DuBois (12-9).

South Park 2, Hickory 1 – Sydney Sekely threw a complete game with six strikeouts and went 2 for 3 with a double to lead South Park (21-1) to a Class 3A first-round win. Paige VanDyke and Addison O’Connor drove in a run apiece for the Eagles, who will meet Westmont Hilltop in the quarterfinals Thursday. AJ Jarzab went 3 for 3 with a double for Hickory (18-5).

Thomas Jefferson 10, Northern York 0 – Aubrey Shaffer threw a complete-game four-hit shutout with five strikeouts and Jemma Danko singled, homered and drove in two runs to lead Thomas Jefferson (18-8) to a Class 5A first-round win over Northern York (17-8). Cam Noderer went 3 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Adalina Bracco went 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs for the Jaguars, who will face North Hills in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Union 12, Purchase Line 9 – Irelyn Fisher went 3 for 3 with a home run and two RBIs, Olivia Benedict hit a grand slam and Korynne Shannon also homered to lead Union (19-2) to a Class A first-round win. Addessa Beer had a double and three RBIs for Purchase Line (17-5). The Scotties will meet DuBois Central Catholic in Thursday’s quarterfinals.

Westmont Hilltop 4, Ellwood City 2 – Audra Rudolph went 2 for 3 with two RBIs and Sarah Gibbons hit two doubles and drove in a run for Westmont Hilltop (20-3) in a Class 3A first-round win. Amber McQuinston hit a home run and Kaylee Palombi went 2 for 2 with a double and RBI for Ellwood City (11-7). Westmont Hilltop will meet South Park in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Baseball

Bellefonte 11, Elizabeth Forward 1 – Oliver Thorburg singled, doubled and drove in two runs and Evan Mattern had two hits and two RBIs to send Bellefonte (18-4) to a Class 4A first-round win. Zach Lehman struck out 10 in 5⅔ innings for Bellefonte, which will meet Archbishop Wood in the quarterfinals Thursday. Daniel Spence singled and drove in a run for Elizabeth Forward (16-7).

Butler 2, Mifflin County 1 – Boden Lenyk hit the go-ahead RBI double in the top of the seventh and Mavrik Clement homered to lead Butler (20-3) to a Class 6A first-round win. Kyle Casteel threw a complete game, allowing one unearned run on four hits for the Golden Tornado, who will face Chambersburg in the quarterfinals Thursday. Chase Leister singled and drove in a run for Mifflin County (14-6).

DuBois 2, Montour 1 – Noah Farrell threw a complete game, allowing one unearned run on five hits with 13 strikeouts, to lead DuBois (19-4) to a Class 5A first-round win. Farrell also doubled and drove in a run for DuBois, which will face Upper St. Clair in the quarterfinals Thursday. Zander Stern singled, doubled and scored and hard-luck losing pitcher Matteo Weber struck out 10 for the Spartans.

Eden Christian 7, Clarion 6 – Andrew Sharpless hit a walk-off RBI double in the bottom of the seventh as Eden Christian (17-4) erased a 4-0 deficit for a Class A first-round win. Brad Hull went 4 for 4 with a home run and Jackson Bremmer homered and drove in three runs for the Warriors, who will face West Middlesex in Thursday’s quarterfinals. Parker Miller went 3 for 3 with two doubles for Clarion (14-7).

Elk County Catholic 4, Serra Catholic 3 – Winning pitcher Matthew Gimore and Frankie Smith each had two hits and an RBI to lead Elk County Catholic (19-3) to a Class A first-round win and a quarterfinal matchup with Claysburg-Kimmel. Max Black and Matt Dukovich each had two hits for Serra Catholic (13-8).

Fairview 3, Riverside 1 – Robert Benford singled, doubled and drove in a run and Luke Rzodkiewicz had a double and an RBI to lead Fairview (17-1) to a Class 3A first-round win. Benford, Jacob Milam and Rzodkiewicz combined on a three-hitter with nine strikeouts for Fairview, which will take on Philipsburg-Osceola in the quarterfinals Thursday. Jackson Barber had two hits for Riverside (12-9).

Fort Cherry 1, Everett 0 – Colton Temple threw six scoreless innings, allowing two hits, and drove in the game’s lone run with an RBI single in the first inning, carrying Fort Cherry (19-2) to a Class 2A first-round win. Dylan Lueck threw a scoreless seventh to earn the save for the Rangers, who will take on Mercyhurst Prep in Thursday’s quarterfinals. Hard-luck losing pitcher Chase Sherwood gave up one run on two hits with seven strikeouts in a complete game for Everett (18-7).

Hollidaysburg 10, South Fayette 0 – Vince Boland threw a five-inning, one-hit shutout with nine strikeouts to lead Hollidaysburg (21-2) to a Class 5A first-round win. Ty McGough doubled and drove in two runs and Cole Hartman had two hits and two RBIs for Hollidaysburg, which will face Lampeter-Strasburg in the quarterfinals Thursday. Evan Mizia had the lone hit for South Fayette (14-11).

Hopewell 9, General McLane 2 – Kingston Krotec gave up one run on six hits in a complete-game win and Logan Triscila went 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs to lead Hopewell (18-6) in the Class 4A first round. Collin Davis homered, Benjamin McDonald doubled, tripled and drove in two runs and James Gill singled, tripled and knocked in two runs for the Vikings, who will face Indiana in the quarterfinals Thursday. Kellen Chelton doubled and drove in a run and Jackson Kiser singled and tripled for General McLane (15-6).

Indiana 10, Somerset 0 – Chase Force, Brady Oakes and Sully VanHoose each went 3 for 3 and Dylan Shank singled, doubled and drove in three runs to lead Indiana (19-4) to a Class 4A first-round win. Shane McHugh threw four one-hit innings and Charlie Manzi struck out the side in the fifth for Indiana, which will meet Hopewell in the quarterfinals Thursday. Garret Reese had the lone hit for Somerset (16-6).

Neshannock 3, Redbank Valley 2 – Ryan Cameron hit a sacrifice fly and Anthony Eakin followed with a squeeze bunt as Neshannock (19-3) scored twice in the bottom of the sixth to rally for a Class 2A first-round win. Cameron pitched four scoreless innings to pick up the win for the Lancers, who will meet Saegertown in Thursday’s quarterfinals. Braylon Wagner went 3 for 4 with a double and an RBI for Redbank Valley (15-7).

Philipsburg-Osceola 4, Ellwood City 1 – Archer Baughman threw a complete game, allowing one run on two hits with nine strikeouts, to lead Philipsburg-Osceola (15-8) in the Class 3A first round. Nick DeSimone singled and drove in two runs for P-O, which will take on Fairview in the quarterfinals Thursday. Nate Kennedy singled and drove in a run for Ellwood City (18-4).

South Park 6, Bedford 3 – Cooper Hochendoner went 3 for 4 with a double, homer and three RBIs to power South Park (16-6) past Bedford (8-15) in the Class 3A first round. Robert Lenzi gave up three unearned runs on four hits with 10 strikeouts in six innings for the Eagles, who will meet Tyrone in the quarterfinals Thursday.

Tyrone 5, Avonworth 3 – Owen Oakes singled and drove in two runs and Brandon McClure doubled and scored a run to lead Tyrone (14-9) to a Class 3A first-round win and a quarterfinal matchup with South Park on Thursday. Carson Franc went 2 for 2 with two doubles and Carter Latore doubled and drove in a run for Avonworth (18-7).

West Middlesex 12, Western Beaver 9 – Caleb Koncar had a single and three RBIs and Nolan Kayser went 2 for 3 with two RBIs for West Middlesex (16-5) in a Class A first-round win. Christian Stefankis went 3 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs and Jackson Kisucky went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs for Western Beaver (12-5).West Middlesex will face Eden Christian in the quarterfinals Thursday.
