American Airlines will suspend service from Pittsburgh International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport amid rising fuel costs during the United States’ conflict with Iran.
Pittsburgh International Airport spokesman Bob Kerlik confirmed the route will be paused from Aug. 5 through Oct. 4.
“This pause is one of several route adjustments [American Airlines] made nationally at airports across the country,” he added. “We continue to stay in touch with our airline partners on the issue.”
American flies from Pittsburgh to 10 American cities, including year-round routes to Miami, Philadelphia and Charlotte.
It is now the second airline to modify its service from Pittsburgh to Los Angeles due to high fuel prices, after ultra-low-cost carrier Breeze Airways delayed its thrice-weekly seasonal flights that were set to begin in early May until Tuesday.
Pittsburgh International also offers daily service to Los Angeles via United Airlines.
American Airlines did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
