After shooting scenes throughout the Pittsburgh region last year, the Amazon MGM Studios-distributed film “How to Rob a Bank” has released a trailer.

The trailer was posted on YouTube on Tuesday morning and had already accrued more than 1 million views after four hours.

The movie has a Sept. 4 theatrical release date. Various scenes were shot in locations all over the region, from the North Hills to Downtown Pittsburgh, in the summer of 2025.

“How to Rob a Bank” follows a group of social media Robin Hood-types who film their bank heists and post them online — and a law enforcement investigation tries to put a stop to them.

Starring Nicholas Hoult, John C. Reilly, Anna Sawai, Pete Davidson, Christian Slater, the movie was directed by David Leitch. He has a history of combining glossy action and comedy in films such as “Deadpool 2,” “Atomic Blonde” and “Bullet Train.”

“How to Rob a Bank” joins films such as “The Dark Knight Rises,” “Dawn of the Dead” and “Adventureland” as part of Pittsburgh’s rich movie history.
