Outdoor concerts, mini-golf and community fundraisers headline this weekend’s events in Westmoreland County as the summer season begins. Here are some activities happening in the area.
SummerSounds
The community summer concert series is back for another season of free concerts at St. Clair Park in Greensburg through August.
To kick off the summer, Friday’s headliner is Peak, a psychedelic funk band from New York City. Peak takes the stage at 7 p.m., with pre-show music from 6:15 to 6:45 p.m.
Audience members should bring a blanket or chair to sit on during the show. The concert is at St. Clair Park, 135 W. Maple Ave., Greensburg. To learn more, visit summersounds.com.
Putt-a-Palooza
Visitors can combine art and mini-golf all summer long with Putt-a-Palooza at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, starting Friday.
Each of the course’s nine holes is based on an artwork from the museum’s collection. The indoor course is designed for all ages.
The course opens Friday from noon to 7 p.m. It is also open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. The experience is free for museum members and active-duty U.S. military members.
Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children and free for children ages 3 and under. No preregistration is required except for large parties. To learn more, visit thewestmoreland.org.
Pet Sounds Live
The Beach Boys’ 1966 album “Pet Sounds” is widely considered by critics to be one of the most influential pop albums ever made. Pet Sounds Live brings those songs to the stage this weekend.
In addition to the full album, the performance includes other Beach Boys hits from throughout the decades, ranging from upbeat tracks like “I Get Around” to more introspective songs.
The show begins at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin. Tickets are $33.

‘Fiddler on the Roof’
Hometown Arts Troupe Community Theater presents the Broadway classic “Fiddler on the Roof” this weekend.
The musical follows Tevye, a Jewish man living in a small Russian village, as he navigates a changing world and long-held traditions. The show features classic standards such as “Tradition” and “Sunrise, Sunset.”
Showtimes are 7 p.m. Friday, and 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday at the Greensburg Garden and Civic Center, 951 Old Salem Road, Greensburg.

Lions Club chicken BBQ
The Slickville Lions Club holds its chicken barbecue this Saturday starting at 10 a.m. until sold out.
Attendees can purchase a half chicken with a side of coleslaw for $10. The event is a fundraiser benefiting local community projects and the Lions Lunchables backpack program for children at James H. Metzgar Elementary School.
